Day 01 - Arrive Delhi
Arrive today in India's bustling capital city of Delhi, where you are
greeted with a traditional Indian welcome and escorted to your hotel.
Day 02 - New & Old Delhi Sightseeing
Your city tour includes Raj Ghat -Mahatma Gandhi's memorial, Ashoka
Pillar and the mile-long Chandni Chowk bazaar. A drive along Rajpath, the
city's broadest avenue to view Parliament House, the President's House and
India Gate. Visit the Birla Mandir, Humayun's Tomb, Qutab Minar.
Day 03 - Delhi - Bhubaneshwar
Fly to Bhubaneshwar, capital of the state of Orissa from where your east india vacation tour starts. Visit the Bindu
Sarovar, a temple tank, it is believed to be fed by all the holy rivers of
India and the surrounding temples. The best examples are Lingaraj temple,
Vaitai Deul, Mukteswara temple and Rajarani temple. A visit to the Orissa
State Museum completes our tour.
Day 04 - Bhubaneshwar - Konarak - Puri
Drive today to Konarak (56 kms / 1 ½ hrs), a former center of
Buddhism. Visit the Sun temple, considered a masterpiece of Orissan
architecture, took 1200 artisans and 16 years to complete. The walls of
the temple are covered with erotic sculptures. Continue your drive to Puri
(60 kms / 1 ½ hrs). Overnight in hotel.
Day 05 - Puri
This morning visit the Jagannath temple built in the 12th century. It is
one of the biggest centers of pilgrimage in India. The huge chariot at the
temple, almost 40 feet tall with wheels measuring 6 feet in diameter carry
the deity of Jagganath during the annual Rath Yatra. The term "juggernaut"
found its origins in this chariot.
Day 06 - Puri - Bhubaneshwar - Kolkata
Depart Puri this morning for Bhubaneshwar, where you board a flight to
Kolkata. Overnight at hotel.
Day 07 - Kolkata Sightseeing
Your tour of this great city includes a visit to Victoria Memorial, Jain
Temple and the new market. Also visit Mother Teresa's Ashram, a place that
strikes an emotional chord with most visitors. You are welcome to stay and
participate in the daily activities if you so desire. The afternoon is at
leisure.
Day 08 -Depart Kolkata
You will be transferred to the airport for your onward flight.
