In the morning, begin sightseeing of the Mughal Gardens in the city of gardens, Srinagar. These Mughal Gardens have a splendid history dedicated to Mughals. Visit Shalimar Bagh, the garden built by fourth Mughal emperor Jahangir for his wife, Nur Jahan. This apex point of Mughal horticulture is a graceful garden stepping up the hillside, shaded by trees and cooled by artificial torrents and Mughal pavilions. Next is Nishat Bagh, the garden of joys based upon a series of terraces lined with mighty chinar trees along the lakeshore. Above this, visit Pari Mahal which gives an illusion as a fort more than a garden. The flower-filled porches here are divided by tall stone arches, offering panoramic views down over the city.

Later visit Cheshmashahi, the royal spring offers more shrubs, rosebushes and water features, backing onto an attractive three storeyed Mughal pavilion. The natural spring of water enclosed in a stone pavilion is believed to have curative properties. After the excursion to the gorgeous gardens of Srinagar; return to the Houseboat for lunch. After hours are at leisure. Dinner and overnight stay in Deluxe Houseboat.
Morning check out houseboat by car/coach to Kargil, second largest town in Kashmir after Leh. Enroute visit Sonamarg and Baltal village, famous for rugged snow peaked meadows. Post Baltal, crossover Zoji-La Pass (11,500 ft). Reach Drass valley and witness a strikingly different landscape dotted with remote mud huts, giving tourists an impression of travelling back in time. After passport check, continue on to Kargil. Overnight in a local hotel/Inn.
In the morning, visit local Immambarah and Turkish inspired architectural structures from the Silk route days. During those times, it used to be a major stopover for Central Asian trade route. Enroute Leh, visit Mulbekh Monastery based on two gompas dedicated Gelugpa and Drukpa clans. Perched atop a mountain Mulbekh monastery is known to host a huge image of Buddha carved from a giant rock. After Mulbekh, continue on to Likir monastery known for a 25-foot-tall (7.6 m) gold-covered Buddha statue. This evening arrive in Leh and check into local hotel/inn.
Full day is dedicated towards sightseeing tour of Ladakh based upon a visit to the monasteries of Hemis, Shey and Thikse. The Hemis Gompa is the most influential of the three monasteries in the vicinity of Leh and belongs to the Kaguyupa Buddhist sect. This biggest gompa of Ladakh houses the superb murals and Thangkas. Even large areas of the surrounding farmland are controlled by the monastery. Continue visiting Shey, known for a palace and gompa and Thikse monastery modeled on the famous Potala Palace. The bonus coming with this journey is the remarkable views across the Indus valley. Overnight in Leh.
In the morning, begin the sightseeing Leh with a visit to Leh Palace, Shanti Stupa and Shankar Gompa. In the noon, drive to Stok across the river Indus to see the Stok Palace. Evening is free to explore the bazaars. Overnight in Leh.
After breakfast, set out for Spituk and arrive after an 8 km drive. From there, move further up to Alchi, 64 km from Leh. Here walk through the 11th century Alchi Gompa, the oldest gompa in Ladakh located on lowland. Thereafter, cover Likir and visit the splendid three-storey Dharma Wheel Gompa. Here, massive Buddha statues will surely awestruck tourists. Also they can revisit the life of Buddha through frescoes. Proceed to the Uletokpa camping ground for overnight camping.
Move towards Lamayuru this morning. Dramatically situated on a high spur, Lamayuru overlooks an eerily eroded landscape. The monastery here belongs to the 11th century and features the famous image of Vairocana, the Central Buddha of Meditation along with a fine collection of thangkas. Visit the small Wanlah Gompa located in the south of this place. Spent the night in an overnight camp in Lamayuru.
After breakfast, start the backward trip to Leh. Driving in these high altitude regions is quite adventurous aboard the jeep.
