Day 01 - Delhi
Upon arrival in Delhi, the gateway of India, meet India Budget Tour representative for a warm welcome followed by transfer to the hotel for overnight stay.
Day 02 - Delhi - Varanasi
You have a whole day in hand to feel the verve of this Indian capital city, Delhi as you discover the gems of heritage here. Visit to the Qutab Minar, drive pass through India Gate and Rajpath leading towards the Rashtrapati Bhawan, the Red Fort and the famous bylane bazaar of Chandni Chowk. If time permits, also visit Raj Ghat - the memorial to Mahatma Gandhi. In the evening, transfer to the Railway station and board the connecting train to Varanasi. Overnight on board.
Day 03 - Arrival- Varanasi
On arrival in this city of learning; transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon, begin a guided excursion to Sarnath (10 km) - Lord Buddha delivered his first sermon here after enlightenment and initiated Buddhism with his first five followers. Visit the Chowkhandi and Dhamek Stupas in the Mulgandhakuti Vihara and contemplate and pray at this peaceful place. Also visit Sarnath Museum, the site where the inspiration behind the National Emblem of India, the Lion Capital Pillar is displayed. Return to Varanasi by evening and if time permits, continue the walk towards the splendid Ganges Ghats for evening Aarti worship. Overnight in Varanasi.
Day 04 - Varanasi
Rise up this morning in this cultural city with the boat ride on India's most sacred river, the Ganges. After breakfast, begin a guided city tour of Varanasi. Visit the Benaras Hindu University, the temples dedicated to Bharat Mata, Goddess Durga. The afternoon is free to relax. Overnight in Varanasi.
Day 05 - Varanasi - Khajuraho
Morning fly to Khajuraho, the world heritage site known for its erotic sculpture and is an artistic marvel of its own. On arrival, transfer to hotel. In the afternoon, visit the Western group of temples created by the Chandela Rajputs for more than hundred years. Visit the largest temple of the complex, Kandariya Mahadeo temple, the Chausath Yogini temple, the the Parsvanath temple, Chitragupta temple, the Chaturbhuj temple and the Duladeo temple. Overnight in Khajuraho.
Day 06 - Khajuraho - Orcha - Jhansi - Agra
Morning check out Khajuraho for a drive to Jhansi Railway Station. Enroute visit the famouslyforgotten Orchha temples and palaces built by Bundela rulers. Connect train from Jhansi Railway Station, train # 2001 New Delhi Shatabdi Express dep. Jhansi at 17:56 hrs. arr. Agra at 20:22 hrs. On arrival in Agra, transfer to the hotel for overnight stay.
Day 07 - Agra
After breakfast, begin a city tour of Agra, which once served as the capital of Mughal India and the center of many majestic Mughal monuments evocative of power and glory. Visit the world famous "Taj Mahal" the monument of love eternally etched in marble. It was built by Emperor Shah Jahan in the memory of his Queen Mumtaz. The second in the series is Agra Fort dominated by red sandstone construction & includes the beautiful Pearl Mosque and other noteworthy structures in its vicinity & Itmad-ud-Daula, the baby Taj known for its unique Pietra Dura inlays. Overnight at hotel. (Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays)
Day 08 - Agra - Fatehpur Sikri - Jaipur
After breakfast leave Agra for a drive to Jaipur (approx 232 km / 5 hrs. drive). On the route, visit Fatehpur Sikri built by Emperor Akbar symbolizing the vision of shifting the capital from Agra, which eventually after 15 years got abandoned due to the scarcity of water. Still, the building is seen as an architectural marvel based on the synthesis of Hindu and Islamic architecture in an excellent state of preservation. Visit the magnificent buildings of Jama Masjid, Tomb of Shaikh Salim Chisti, and other palaces in this elaborate complex. On arrival at Jaipur, transfer to hotel for overnight stay.
Day 09 - Jaipur
Wake up in the picturesque Pink City where surreal castles and rugged forts rule the citys skyline. Begin the morning with an excursion to Amber fort, the prized jewel etched atop a hill. This is a recently recognized world heritage site known for its impeccable architecture. The way to enter the fort is equally grand. You need to ride an elephant or hire a jeep to ascend the hill on which the fort is located. In the afternoon, enjoy a guided city tour of Jaipur. Visit the City Palace and Jantar Mantar, the famous stone observatory. Overnight in Jaipur.
Day 10 - Jaipur - Mandawa (180 km / 4 hrs)
Drive to Mandawa, a medieval town known for its colourful illustrations and frescoes etched on the walls of the havelis, lending it a larger than life artistic feel. On arrival, check in at hotel. Later, visit the nearby villages to see the lavish specimens of colourfully illustrated havelis. Overnight in Mandawa.
Day 11 - Mandawa - Bikaner
In the morning, check out Mandawa for a drive towards Bikaner (150 km / 4 hrs). This royal fortified city is known for its connection with the deserts, a topographical attraction and desserts, a collection of sweet delicacies. Also, here one gets to ride on the worlds best riding camels. As a part of sightseeing, visit the Junagarh Fort, built in 1593 AD by Raja Rai Singh. The fort has 37 palaces with pavilions, mosaic courtyards, carved balconies that echo the artistic acumen of the kingly vision. The fort museum has a rare collection of Sanskrit and Persian manuscripts and miniature paintings. Overnight in Bikaner.
Day 12 - Bikaner - Deshnoke - Jaisalmer
Early morning, drive to Jaisalmer (331 km / 7 hrs). En route visit the 600 year old Karni Mata at Deshnoke (30 km). The temple has sizeable population of rats, which are considered sacred by the locals. Drive through the Thar Desert to arrive at Jaisalmer late in the evening. On arrival, check in at hotel for overnight in Jaisalmer.
Day 13 - Jaisalmer
Discover the city of Jaisalmer; rising like a golden fantasy castle from the core of the Thar Desert. Experience the sandstone havelies, temples and typical desert life of men, women, cattle and camels. Visit the Jaisalmer fort and enjoy a jeep safari through remote desert villages and the Cenotaphs of Barabagh. In the afternoon, take a short camel safari in the Thar Desert witness the surreal sunset. Ovenight in Jaisalmer.
Day 14 - Jaisalmer - Jodhpur (Approx 290 Kms. / 6 hrs. drive)
Early morning, check out Jaisalmer for a drive towards Jodhpur, the blue city and on arrival check-in at hotel. Enjoy a city tour in the afternoon. Visit the Mehrangarh fort that soars 125 mts. above the plains and realizes the vision of blue city overseen by the magnificent hill fort. This is also a world heritage site under Hill forts of Rajasthan. Overnight in Jodhpur.
Day 15 - Jodhpur - Ranakpur - Udaipur
In the morning, check out Jodhpur for a drive towards Udaipur (259 km / 5 hrs.) En route visit the 500 years old Jain Temple complex in Ranakpur with 29 halls supported by 1444 pillars, of which no two are exactly alike. On arrival in Udaipur, check in at hotel. Overnight in Udaipur.
Day 16 - Udaipur
Unveil Udaipur and its ultimate setting with the visit to the City Palace built in the middle of Lake Pichola, Bharatiya Lok Kala Museum and Saheliyon-ki-bari with its foliage and intricately designed fountains. Afternoon is free. (Optional: Enjoy a boat cruise on Lake Pichola, on which lake Palace Hotel and the Jagmandir is situated. Subject to availability). Overnight in Udaipur.
Day 17 - Udaipur - Mumbai
In morning, transfer to the airport to connect flight to Mumbai. On arrival in Mumbai, transfer to hotel. In the noon, begin a guided city tour of Mumbai including a visit to the Jain Temple, Kamala Nehru Park, Hanging Gardens, Mani Bhavan where Mahatma Gandhi spent 17 years of his life and Prince of Wales Museum.
Day 18 - Depart Mumbai
In the morning; take a motor launch from the Gateway of India to the Elephanta Caves. Afternoon is free for independent activities. Later transfer to airport to connect flight for onward destination.
