Day 02 - Bombay
Today know the city of Bombay on a tour starting at the Gate of India
that was erected to commemorate the landing of King George and Queen Mary
in 1911. From here you'll board a launch for the trip to Elephanta Island
to see the 7th century cave temples. Among the sculptures here is the
magnificent "Maheshmurti," or Hindu Trinity, representing the
three aspects of Shiva -the Creator, the Preserver and the Destroyer.
Returning to Bombay, we see the Victorian Railway Station, the Prince
of-Wales Museum and the Jehangir Art Gallery, the Hanging Gardens of
Malabar Hill and the Parsee Towers of Silence. Tonight is at leisure.
Overnight at hotel.

famed theatrical dance tradition of Kathakali. Afternoon free for leisure
or you can scroll around the local market. Overnight at hotel.

Day 04 - In Cochin
Cochin perfectly reflects the eclectic nature of the state of Kerala.
Throughout history, this quaint town has hosted visits from sea farers
from Portugal, England and China, each bringing its own culture that now
make up the diverse fabric of Kerala and Cochin. Enjoy a walking tour of
Cochin's maze of islands connected by bridges, old merchant houses, canals
and lagoons. Visit the 1568 Jewish Synagogue, and the Mattancherry Palace
built by the Portuguese in 1557. Known as "Queen of the Arabian Sea,"
enjoy a cruise of Cochin's harbor in the afternoon. Tonight, attend a
performance of Kerala's unique dance form, the Kathakali.
Day 05 - Sail off on a Private Houseboat
This
morning drive to Alleppey (70 kms / 2 hrs) through waterscapes displaying
cantilevered Chinese fishing nets and carved dugouts with dragon shaped
prows. You will board your own private houseboat - constructed of wood and
reeds like old rice barges - but with the conveniences of a private
bedroom, bath, dining and seating areas along with your own captain and
cook. This afternoon and evening cruise along the idyllic and dreamlike
backwaters of Kerala, a serene network of rivers and canals flowing to the
Arabian Sea from the Cardamom Hills. Lunch and dinner will be served on
board.
Day 06 - Cruise to Kumarakom
In the morning, after breakfast, we'll cruise to Kumarakom and disembark
at the famous Coconut Lagoon Resort for a day of leisure and spa
experience. This is your opportunity to try the much-talked-about
Ayurvedic massage. You can also visit Kumarakom Bird sanctuary in the
afternoon. Overnight at hotel.
Day 07 - Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary
This morning, drive to the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary at Thekkady (135
kms / 4 hrs drive), a 300-square- mile reserve on the slopes of the
Western Ghats (hills). The journey to Thekkady itself is quite enchanting
as the road winds through tranquil countryside, green plantations and lick
jungles. After check in at the resort, you'll head to the sanctuary and
enjoy game viewing by boat as you cruise the 10-square- mile artificial
lake created by the British in 1895. The park is home to antelope, bison,
sambar, wild boar, elephants and a wide variety of birds. There are also
tigers and leopards in residence, though sightings of these elusive
creatures are less common. Back at your resort, the evening is free.
Overnight at hotel
Day 08 - Exploring Periyar
The Periyar region is also famous for its many spice plantations that
grow cardamom, pepper, clove, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and vanilla. This
is also an area of historic tea plantations, waterfalls and open
grasslands. You'll visit some of the plantations today -sampling the
product, of course - before enjoying a free afternoon at your resort.
Day 09 - Periyar /- Cochin
This morning, drive back to Cochin international airport to (185 kms / 5
hrs) connect flight back to home.
