Day 1 - Kochi (Cochin)
Arrive
at Kochi airport. Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to your
hotel for a 2-night stay. Enjoy an evening cruise around the Kochi harbour
- one of the finest natural harbours in the world. Kochi was once a major
centre for commerce and trade with the British, Arabs, Chinese,
Portuguese, and Dutch etc.
Day 2 - Kochi
After breakfast sightseeing tour of Kochi includes a visit to the Dutch
Palace and Synagogue, Chinese fishing nets.
Day 3 - Kochin - Munnar, 180 Km / 4 1/2 hrs
Drive to the hill resort of Munnar for a 2-night stay (alt. 1,600 m).
Afternoon at leisure to enjoy the natural surroundings.
Day 4 - Munnar
After breakfast visit Eravikulam National Park, natural habitat of the
rare mountain goat -Nilgiri Tahr and home of Aniamundi (2,695m) the
highest peak of South India. Afternoon at leisure.
Day 5 - Munnar to Periyar, 165 Kms / 4 hrs
Take a scenic drive through tea and spice plantations and blue hills and
arrive at Periyar. During the afternoon take a two-hour boat safari on the
mist-shrouded lake, which offers excellent opportunities for spotting
wildlife, especially herds of elephants.
Day 6 - Periyar to Kumarakom, 140 Km / 4 ½ hrs
Morning visit spice plantations. Afternoon drive to Kumarakom, a unique
backwater destination situated on the banks of the Vembanad Lake.
Overnight at hotel.
Day 7 - Kumarakom to Alleppey, houseboat
Morning visit Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary. At 12 - 00 hrs board the
Kettuvallam -a typical Kerala houseboat and sail through the beautiful
backwaters region towards Alleppey. Explore the labyrinthine network of
waterways, which weave through villages set amidst lush vegetation,
offering glimpses of Kerala's unique rural lifestyle where land and water
are inseparable.
Day 8 - Houseboat - Alleppey - Kovalam (190 kms / 4 hrs)
Disembark at Alleppey and transfer to the internationally renowned beach
of Kovalam. Upon arrival transfer to hotel.
Day 9 - Kovalam (Padmnabhapuram & Cape Comorin), 98 Km/2 hrs
Full day excursion to the beautifully kept wooden palace of Travancore
rulers at Padmnabhapuram and to Cape Comorin - the tip of peninsular India
where three seas - Indian Ocean, Arabian Sea & the Bay of Bengal meet.
Day 10 - Kovalam
Full day at leisure on the Kovalam Beach.
Day 11 - Kovalam
Full day at leisure on the Kovalam Beach.
Day 12 - Depart Kovalam
Transfer to Thiruvannanthapuram (Trivandrum) airport to board your onward
flight.
