Day 8 : Khajuraho
Morning sightseeing tour to see the architectural marvels of 'The
Khajuraho Temples'. These Hindu temples with erotic carvings were
built 1000 years ago with art and architecture merged to perfection.
The temples are in three groups in an area of about 8 square miles.
The western group, largest and most important, the eastern group is
that of the Brahmin and Jain shrines close to the present Khajuraho
village and the Southern group which houses the Chaturbhuj temple.
Day 9 : Khajuraho to Agra (by train from Jhansi)
Late
morning drive to Jhansi, en route visiting the ancient palaces and
temples of Orchha. Board 'Shatabdi Express' (fast train in Executive
a/c class) departing Jhansi at 17:55hrs arriving into Agra at
20:00hrs. Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel
for a 2-night stay.
Day 10 : Agra
Visit Taj Mahal in the morning. It is an acclaimed architectural
masterpiece and one of the wonders of the world. 20,000 workers
laboured for 12 years to build this sublime garden-tomb of Mumtaz
Mahal and Shah Jahan. In the afternoon visit Agra Fort and Tomb of
Itmad-ud-Daulah also called Baby Taj.
Day 11 : Agra to Bharatpur, 56 Km/ ½ hr
Drive from Agra to Bharatpur National Park, one of the most famous
bird sanctuaries in the world. En route visit Fatehpur Sikri the
imperial ruins of the dream capital city of the Great Mughal Emperor
-Akbar. There are proper pathways inside the sanctuary and one can
comfortably enjoy bird watching in the sanctuary. If you wish, you can
rent a bicycle for few hours and explore the a bird sanctuary on your
own. During the afternoon tour Bharatpur, visiting the Government
Museum and Lohagarh Fort, which houses the Kothi Khas, Mahal Khas,
Kishori Mahal, Fateh Burj and jawahar Burj.
Day 12 : Bharatpur to Jaipur, 176 Km/4 hrs
Drive to Jaipur, the famed 'Pink City' also the present capital of
Rajasthan known for its palaces, three hill forts and a shopper's
paradise. Afternoon at leisure.
Day 13 : Jaipur
Morning excursion to Amber : capital of the old state of Dhundhar,
located on the rugged hills that surround Jaipur. Ride the colourfully
painted elephants up the hill, admire the massive gateways, courts,
stairways, pillared pavilions and palaces that recall the glory and
wealth of Amber's association with the Mughals.
In the afternoon visit the City Palace (still houses the erstwhile
Royal family); Jantar Mantar -the Royal Observatory and Hawa Mahal
(Palace of Winds) - built for the royal ladies to watch the or
activities on the market street below without being observed
themselves.
Day 14 : Jaipur to Delhi, 250 km/5 hrs
Early morning drive to Delhi. During the afternoon explore the Qutub
Complex, Mughal citadel named Lal Qila (Red Fort); Jama Masjid and
Humayan's Tomb -the only monument ever built by a lady in the memory
of her beloved husband, which was an inspiration for several other
monuments, such as the incomparable Taj Mahal.
Day 15 : Depart Delhi
Transfer to the airport to board your onward flight.
